Food Allergy

  • What is a food allergy?
Food allergies are an antibody response to certain foods. Some foods may cause an immediate reaction while chewing the food. Most will cause a delayed reaction which makes it more difficult to detect the culprit food. Common food allergens include dairy products, fish, shellfish, wheat, fruits, sugar, yeast, mushrooms, eggs, coffee, corn, greens, and beef.
  • What symptoms can be associated with food allergies?
* Digestive upsets, vomiting, diarrhea.
* Skin rashes and eczema.
* Respiratory problems.
* Swelling of lips.
* Tingling in the mouth or throat.
* Nervous disorders.
* Stiffness and joint pain.
* Urinary infections.
  • Why did I get it?
It may be caused by deficiency of an enzyme to digest a particular food. Food allergies have become very widespread as processed food becomes more chemically altered and enzyme-depleted. As large amounts of fats and proteins are left undigested, the immune system reacts to them as toxic substances. Food allergies can be a sign that there is an imbalance in your system. When you have an imbalance, you are also susceptible to various diseases which can settle in weak areas of your body.

Cosmetic Blepharoplasty

Cosmetic blepharoplasty is performed to improve the appearance of the eyelids and the overall sense of well being. This procedure is widely accepted by the people and very popular in North America. Patients are getting done cosmetic eyelid surgery to restore more youthful and better appearance to their eyelids.
Cosmetically, people may want to emphasize their eyes, improve their overall personality, and instead of looking older and restless, they may want to restore a more youthful and rested appearance. Female patients may report some problem putting on eye shadow, or eyeliner becomes grimy around their upper lid.
The lower blepharoplasty is always considered as a part of cosmetic surgery. A transconjunctival approach is used to remove lower eyelid fat through the inside of the eyelid. This approach is more beneficial and also minimizes many complications seen with older technique of blepharoplasty. The transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty is the most common cosmetic procedure performed on men today.
After cosmetic eyelid surgery, appearance of the eyes looks more rested and youthful. You might get comments from your friends, but they can not recognize that you have cosmetic surgery.

Contour threads

Contour threads are used in cosmetic/plastic surgery to vertically lift facial tissues that have dropped (”ptosed”) or become sunken with age. The “ptosis” or descent of facial tissues with aging is a universal phenomenon to which much cosmetic facial surgery is directed.

Strands of 2/0 Prolene monofilament thread, with little notches cut into their sides, are placed in the subcutaneous plane under the ptosed facial skin. These are anchored under secure points in fronto-occipitalis and temporalis tissues. Dropped or “ptosed” facial skin is then elevated onto the barbed threads, and stay elevated because of the barbs. Thus the patient gets a “facelift”, without any scalpel work and without any removal of skin.

In the rare event that an individual patient is unhappy with the results, the threads can be readily removed and the patient’s face thence returns to its position prior to treatment. Thus, Contour threads have negligible permanent “biological cost”, as the effect is reversible. Effects last for a number of years, quoted as 2–5 years, after which time the positive effect is gradually lost and the patient’s face returns to its state prior to treatment. Nonetheless, this is 2–5 years better than the situation that would have pertained had Contour threads not been put in place.

What Happens In Theatre

A thick, hollow needle, inserts a thread into the fat layer just under the skin, starting near the cheekbone. One end of the thread is then tied to deeper, firmer internal structures in the face. The other end of the thread travels under the skin about four inches. When the surgeon withdraws the needle, barbs on the sutures deposit themselves in the drooping parts of the face. The thread is gently pulled which pulls the loose flesh up, closer to where it once was and then fixes the thread down.This is not a permanent treatment and hence costs less than a full facelift. Most surgeons recommend that only a full facelift will provide the desired results.
Risks & Complications

Minor bruising and swelling, infection, and the threads popping out of the skin. The face must be kept immobile for several days after the procedure so the threads won’t be dislodged.
